My stories got interrupted for a Special Report today. That happens a lot, but today I didn't mind. Reporting on the county's recent Swine Flu cases was County Executive Aaron Reardon. rawwrr.
What did they say about the swine flu? I don't know I wasn't listening. I was thinking about how funny his name sounds in the same way Rural Juror does. Then when the sciencey guy came on to milk the spotlight I began to fall asleep.

kick ass
I'm so excited to have three days off this week. Of course it's of my own design. Since my birthday falls between my normal days off I just asked for it off and POW! 3-day weekend. I'm looking forward to cleaning up, reading things, watching things, eating things, etc. I'm picking up a bunch of comics tomorrow, that's exciting enough. They will include the new issue of Kick Ass, a comic that's becoming HUGE, despite being rather low-key.
I'm tempted to go into it but I think I'll save it for a review. Kick Ass the movie is already in production. It's hard to tell how it's going to be, Nick Cage plays a character that's hardly been in the comic yet. McLovin from Superbad is also playing a character who's only been in one issue so far. Who the heck knows how this will turn out. This little girl might be good as Hit Girl.
Notice the blood dripping. This is a very violent comic, but in a comical way. Like, how many heads can the 10-year-old cut off? Haha.
Here's another still of the main kid, who's really a total dick. We'll see how it
turns out.

picturesque
When I was young(er) I took a lot of photos. I remember starting in ninth grade with whatever camera I could find. Then in college I got a Nikon N60 and mostly used that. Some were arty, some were candid, a lot were blurry, and a lot are of nothing in particular, especially since I usually end up hanging out with the "camera shy". I was never very interested in the developing or printing aspect of photography. I LOVE one-hour photos. I thought more about the composition of the picture, and usually making sure there was either enough or not too much light. I think my peak picture taking days were around 18-20 years old. I hardly take any now, or maybe I do and it doesn't feel like it because they're all digital.
I have a box of a couple thousand photos that I have no idea what to do with. So I decided to post a new photo from my box every once in a while. I'll shoot for every day but I make no promises. A couple of others, like Keith and this bear, who's blog I randomly found via Twitter, have attempted similar things. So why not?
So for my first post I'll do a 5 for 1 special. While I will consciously choose my daily photos today I randomly picked five from my box without looking. I wish I had picked better ones, but them's the breaks. I'll even tell you what each picture is!
This is my sister. She was still in high school here, in her Ace Hardware work clothes. She loves working in hardware. Now she works at a mom and pop hardware store in Chico, CA but since she's a girl they don't let her do anything other than run the register even if she does know way more than the dumb teen boys that work there.
This is my grandparent's dog Danni circa 1995. She was put down a few years ago. I remember they had a dog, Schwartz, when I was little, then Danni. My Grandma now has a little hellion named Foxy.
This is my cat, E.G.(also 1995, also dead) She is named for a super heroine I made up as a child, Electric Girl, despite my mother's best efforts to name her "Cleo". I don't think I ever told anyone that. She is fighting my Star Wars figures. I think she won. You need to stay cool in these situations. She always did.
Ugh. This is the grill from the Radio Grill, the restaurant in the Wal*Mart I work at from 18 - 21. Shortly after I left they replaced it with a McDonalds, and rightly so. That shit was poison. I think this picture was for a long-exposure assignment in photography class. Something about the lights there made it really not work. I went with a cooler picture that I'm sure I'll post soon.
This was on the ground (surprise) by the bleachers of my first college's track. It's a piece of garbage, presumably from a reversible article of clothing.
That's it for now.

extended family
I met Jeremy's parents for the first time on Tuesday. I was nervous about it, as you might guess, but it was fine and went pretty much how I expected it to. Jeremy tells me that they liked me. That's good, I like them too. I like how low key his father is, generally quiet, smiling, and easily pleased by old music. He reminds me of my grandfather. His mother was also very cordial, we even talked a little about All My Children. The best way I can describe them is that they are very much parents.
Speaking of parents, Keith and Risa had their baby a week or so ago. A little boy, Saul William. Keith has been playing an album of Radiohead Lullabies for him.
Keith, when he gets older (a lot older) you should play him this song by someone with a familiar name. Maybe you should start with this softer, kinder version...
Jeremy and I got to meet Saul. He's tiny and likes to punch the air. Here's a post from the proud Papa.
And in soaps, OLTL's Jessica is about to baptize her baby. But we all know that the baby is really Starr's. I can't wait for Jess to find out so she has a psychotic breakdown and her evil persona, Tess, comes out. She's fun.

no buzz for KC
I'm sorry I don't have a Butterfinger Buzz review yet, but I will soon. One for that tomato soup as well. I think both will be favorable reviews.
Thanks for sending me those pictures! The more record of cool stuff we have, the better.
Man, there is so much associated with this one. The t-shirt of course. And the waitress at Tony Roma's. I can't believe she didn't call you. I still have never found any evidence that the iron-on paper I made that shirt with ever existed. Kodak Iron-on transfer paper. I still think it was too good for non-commercial use and they pulled it off the market.
And this one...did I send you this when you were living in Santa Cruz? I think so, along with a letter. I forgot all about it, thank you! I think it's one of my better works.
I don't remember where this came from, but the phrase is perfect! Thank you for being a genius.
Why are there always things like hookers and booze bottles in my drawings? And Sagar said my people always look like "they're up to something."
Oh, hey remember my gothic black belt? I found some recent pictures of him. No, I'm not being stalkery, I was just curious and that's what myspace is for. He was already pretty "softened" back in 1996, but he got a little softer due to inactivity lately.
Jake and I are going to see Chad Vangaalen on Friday. I sent you that album right? Check out the beat to the song TMNT Mask. Does that keyboard rhythm sound familiar? It oughta. Here's a little video with it playing.
Now reflect:
ok, it's getting late and i'm feelin sleepy. I want to see pics of your new place soon. It doesn't have to be a video, either.
