I'm pretty bad at painting or drawing portraits of people, but once in a while i decide to try it and, once in a while, one will come out good.
I had a very good example from around 2003, but i really don't want to look for the images and scan them right now. Instead, I'll just show you the one I did today. I took it from a photo from Stephen Shore's book Uncommon Places.

By no means is my rendition of this woman as fabulous as she is. And I tells ya, a brush tipped pen can do a lot to add depth to a line drawing. Or probably a real brush, but that's too messy for me.

a rare moment
My Uncle Reggie took this picture of my family at dinner in Reno, NV the other night. It's not common for all of us to be together at the same time. I don't think these smiles were even posed, for the most part.
I was laughing at something my brother David said. "I'm saving that for the girls at Circus Circus." It was funny, but I missed the first part and I have no idea what "that" was.
